June Jordan's posthumously released Directed by Desire: Collected Poems (Copper Canyon), edited by Jan Heller Levi and Sara Miles, took home the Lesbian Poetry Lammy and received a nomination for The Audre Lorde Award for Lesbian Poetry from The Publishing Triangle. Poetic justice: Richard Siken's poetry collection Crush (Yale University Press) received both the Lambda Literary Award and the Publishing Triangle's Thom Gunn Award for Gay Poetry. The latter received the Lammy for Gay Men's Fiction. and the very adult subject matter of The Sluts (Carroll & Graf). Prolific queer writer Dennis Cooper had a busy 2005 with the publication of the young adult novel God, Jr. The book was also a finalist for the Edmund White Award for Debut Fiction from The Publishing Triangle. ![]() ![]() As it turns out, there is plenty more where those books came from.Īlready a winner: The novel Choir Boy (Soft Skull Press) by Charlie Anders received the Lambda Literary Award for the Transgender/GenderQueer category in May 2006. What better time than summer to catch up on your reading?
